It is with deep sadness that the family of Jessie Lee Hoffpauir, 84, announces his passing on Thursday, May 1st, in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Jessie was born on January 13, 1941, to Lena Lenora Erikson Hoffpauir and Jesse Lee Hoffpauir, Sr. of Abbeville, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his sister Gwen Ellen Hoffpauir of Lafayette, brother-in-law Dan Daniels and wife Lois Daniels of Robeline. From the beginning, Jessie had a caring soul that he generously shared with his family and friends throughout his life.
He will always be lovingly remembered by his wife, Frances Hoffpauir of Robeline; his sons, Jason Hoffpauir and wife Millicint of Natchitoches, and Brent Hoffpauir and wife Kristie of Sunset, Louisiana; his brothers, Bevel and wife Patty of Maple Valley, Washington, Herschel and wife Kay of Baton Rouge, and George Hoffpauir of Shreveport; and his sister, Brenda Hoffpauir of Robeline.
Jessie also leaves behind his brother-in-laws Gary Davis and wife Inetha of Atlanta, Texas, Crit Miller and wife JoAnn of Natchitoches. He was a devoted grandfather to his five cherished grandchildren: Austin, Anna, Gavin, Callen, and John Hoffpauir. He will be deeply missed by a large and loving extended family of nieces and nephews.
Jessie’s warm and pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. With a great sense of humor and a wealth of stories from his adventurous life, he had a gift for making people smile. Jessie was an avid lover of the outdoors, often spending his time fishing, tending to his garden, and buying and selling cattle. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren play the many sports they were involved in.
In high school, Jessie loved playing baseball alongside his brother and helping his father on the family dairy farm. He graduated from Abbeville High School, where he was actively involved in the Future Farmers of America (FFA). While attending the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL), he coached a little league baseball team in his hometown of Abbeville. He earned his degree in Agricultural Education from USL and later continued his academic journey at Northwestern State University, where he earned a Master’s +30.
After moving to Robeline, Jessie met and married the love of his life, Frances Miller. Together, they built a life grounded in love, learning, and shared passions.
Jessie was a student of life—always learning, always curious about the world around him. His passion for knowledge shaped a life of meaningful service and leadership. He held various public roles, including Mayor of Robeline, member of the Police Jury Board, and both board member and manager of Valley Electric. Jessie was also a devoted educator in the Natchitoches Parish School System, where he began his agricultural teaching career at Robeline High School and later continued at Natchitoches Central High School. He was a true inspiration to his students, never giving up on them and always encouraging them to do their best. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched through education, public service, and unwavering dedication to his community.
Although Jessie's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.
