Jean McConathy

A service to honor the life of Mrs. Gloria Jean Thomasee McConathy will be held at 1 pm on Friday, June 28, 2019, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Rodney Achord officiating. Burial will follow at Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 10 am until service time on the 28th. Jean, 80 years of age and a life-long resident of Natchitoches passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019, with family by her side.  She was born January 4, 1939, to Alphonse Thomasee and Eunice Gallien Thomasee.  She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Tracy McConathy. Jean will be dearly missed by her husband of 62 years, Arlen McConathy, daughters Dianne Strother (Barry) of Ball, LA, Mary Barrios (Jerry) of Olathe, KS and Wendy Hudson (Brance) of Stonewall, LA.  She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Brandon Strother, Austin Niette, Brooke Teddlie, Tyler Strother, Cody Niette, Cory Niette, Morgan Davis, Lauren Gentry, Allyssa Barrios, Kamryn Barrios, and Bailey Strother and many great, and great-great-grandchildren. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and others who called her Mawmaw Jean.  She also leaves behind her best friend and sister, LaVerne Chambers and her son Randy Chambers (Mickey). Jean loved to talk about her family and all of their accomplishments.  She loved to read, crochet and listen to music.  Jean never met a stranger and everyone was always welcomed at her house.  Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Brandon Strother, Austin Niette, Tyler Strother, Cody Niette, Cory Niette, Daniel Teddlie, and Jeremy Gentry.  Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters Brooke, Morgan, Lauren, Allyssa, Kamryn, and Bailey. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital in Jean’s name.
