Janis Johnette Moore Davis was born on July 10, 1949 in Natchitoches, La to John Moore and Geraldine Taylor. She passed away unexpectedly at the age of 77 at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center on October 24, 2026.

Janis was the kind of person whose steady presence brought comfort to others. She greeted everyone with a smile and always gave the best hugs. She was known as the most reliable person you could meet, someone who would drop whatever she was doing to assist anyone in need. That generous spirit and unwavering dependability shaped the way she will be remembered. Her life was a gift to her family, her friends, and her community. She will be remembered with deep love by all who had the blessing of knowing her.

At the heart of Janis' life was her family. She was married on September 15, 1967 to Morris Davis with whom she shared 59 years of marriage, a lasting testament to devotion and partnership. She also leaves behind her sons, Duston Davis and wife Christy and Darren Davis and wife Angie. She was affectionately known as "Mawmaw" to her grandchildren, Peyton Foster and wife Tara, Brittney Davis and Nicholas Davis along with her great-grandchildren Sutton, Aubrey, Korbyn, Jayce and McCoy. She is also survived by her sisters, Ginger Talley and husband John, Christine Hood and husband Mark and Jessica Leblanc andr husband Kelly along with numerous nieces and nephews.. Each of them carries forward cherished memories of Janis's love, strength and faithful care.

Janis was a long time, devoted member of Clarence Baptist Church where she taught Children's Sunday School and VBS.

Janis was employed in the Accounting Dept. at Northwestern State University and retired after 50 plus years of service.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Moore and mother, Geraldine Taylor. Their memory remained part of the story of her life and now she rests in the arms of her Savior.

Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Janis' life on Thursday October 29, 2026 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home, 848 Keyser Ave. Natchitoches, La 71457. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Funeral service will follow at 2:00pm. Burial will be at Memory Lawn Cemetery, Natchitoches, La.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Mike Giddens, Timothy Giddens, Nicholas Davis, Peyton Foster, Brandon Durr and Preston Durr.
