James Lester Metoyer, Sr.

James Lester Metoyer Sr. (57) of Cloutierville, Louisiana, passed away on July 12, 2020, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Derry, Louisiana to parentage of Anthony and Augustine Rachal Metoyer on the 21st December 1962. James graduated from St. Matthews High School in 1981. He married Elizabeth Rachal, the love of his life, in 1982, who survives him. James Sr. is also survived by son James L. Metoyer Jr. (Jennifer), and siblings: Mary Ida Below, Florence Rachal (James Ray), Betty Jo Roque (Charles), Cloteel Christophe (David), and Etheline Gallion (Johnny), host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. James Sr. was preceded in death by parents Anthony and Augustine Metoyer; sister, Adeline Pellerin and brother, Chester Metoyer. James Sr. was a God-loving man, his church and faith meant everything. He was a behind the scenes type of person, working with the parish youth, participating in multiple church mission trips, making the needed repairs for his church, serving as Eucharist Minister - bringing Holy Eucharist to the sick, and as an avid Harley Davidson fan organized the church poker run ride for over ten years. Family was the most important aspect of life to him. He was kind, gentle, and humble, always willing lending a helping hand to someone who needed it, whether they asked or not. His love to helping others led him to his career of maintenance work with the Natchitoches Parish Housing Authority for 26 years, fixing those little or major things. The visitation will be held on July 14, 2020, at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home, from 5 pm – 9 pm, Vigil starting at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on July 15, 2020, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Cloutierville, Louisiana at 10 a.m., interment to follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, Cloutierville, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that mass intentions be offered for his reposed soul at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, P. O. Box 40, Cloutierville, Louisiana. 71416. Pallbearers are Archie Ray Rachal Jr., Alex Drew LaCour, Michael Beasley, Sr., James Below, Jamie Riley, and Samuel Justin Bishop. Honorary pallbearers are Archie Ray Rachal Sr., David Christophe Sr., Johnny Ray Gallion Sr., Danny Ray Conde, Kenneth LaCour, and James Ray Rachal.
