James Henderson Dortlon

Funeral services for Mr. James Henderson Dortlon will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 in the Chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches with Bro. Buster Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 1, 2021 for 5 pm until 9 pm at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. James Henderson Dortlon, 76 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches passed away on January 28, 2021. He was born in Natchitoches on November 17, 1944 to J.C. and Myrtle Dortlon. James Henderson was a man that enjoyed life, always chasing dreams. From working offshore, to driving trucks, to enjoying family and friends in his old stomping grounds! He was always the life of the party. James loved watching football especially his Dallas Cowboys, cooking crawfish, and the occasional duck hunt on Black Lake. He is survived by his sons, Christopher Dortlon and wife Noelle from Houston, TX, James "Kelly" Dortlon and wife Lynn from Marthaville, LA, Johnathan Dortlon and wife Sara from Houston, TX.; three grandchildren, Meagan L Dortlon, Meghan E Viator, and James-Kelly Dortlon II; siblings, Doris Dortlon Trichel, Mary Dortlon Nutt, Jefforye Dortlon, and Kathleen Dortlon Meyers. He was preceded in death by, Judy C. Cox Dortlon, his father, James C. Dortlon, mother Myrtle Almond, and siblings, Kathlyean Dortlon, James Carl Dortlon, and Daniel Dortlon. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include James-Kelly Dortlon II, Jason Singletary, Jim Henry, Layne LaCaze, Jason Maggio, and Brad Gallagher. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Courtyard of Natchitoches, which was his home for many years as well as Hospice of Natchitoches for their care and compassion over the years.
