Funeral services for Mr. James Clifton Delrie will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 10 am at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Father Christian Ogbanna officiating. Burial will follow at Emmanuel Cemetery in Chopin. The family will receive friends for visitation from 8 am until 10 am at the funeral home. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Aaron Delrie, Doyle White, Jim Delrie, Tommy Delrie, Maxie Delrie, and Monty Hester. Mr. Delrie was born on July 20, 1923 in Gorum, LA to Dave Delrie and Eliza Troquille Delrie. He passed away on October 5, 2021 surrounded by his family at his home. He is survivived by his wife of 73 years, Billie Vercher Delrie; his sons, Jim Lacy Delrie, and Tommy L. Delrie and his wife, Pamela; and two grandsons, David Delrie and Aaron Delrie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Eliza Delrie; one sister, Louvenia Delrie; three brothers, Adam Delrie, Nedam Delrie, and Preston Delrie. Cliff served in the army during WWII as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division, taking part in the Philippines Campaign and the Occupation of Japan. He was a stretcher bearer and provided medical aid as well. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and tinker on his machines and old tractors. He had many horns in his collection and could skin a squirrel in a matter of minutes. Cliff worked in bridge construction for over 40 years and after retiring, enjoyed his time at home. He cherished his wife, loved his sons and grandsons. He will be dearly missed.
