Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. LaCour, 101+ years young, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025.

Inez Julia Johnson LaCour was born in Sikes, Louisiana in Winn Parish; the fourth of seven children on the 17th day of May in 1924 to Hardy A. Johnson and Julia Wise Johnson.

While growing up she and her family lived in Winn and Grant parishes throughout her childhood. She was preceded in death-- by her siblings: Huey Johnson, Eugene Johnson, Willie Johnson, Ila Mae Johnson Stroud, Tiny Johnson LaCour, and Maire Johnson Davidson.

She married the love of her life, Henry Lee LaCour Sr., March 29, 1941. Inez and Henry welcomed their first born, Henry Lee La Cour Jr. on August 18, 1941. In December 1941 after Pearl Harbor was bombed Henry Sr. joined the Navy. He was stationed in San Diego, California where he was trained and certified as a Hospital Apprentice Second Class for the HOSPITAL CORPS March 12, 1943 and a Hospital Apprentice Second Class in the U.S. Navy for Qualified Assistant, Medical Field Service on July 5, 1943 by the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Navy Department, Washington D.C. Inez and Henry Jr. traveled cross country by train and the young couple made their home in San Diego. After a few short months, the Navy assigned Henry Sr. to the Marines and he was stationed on Tinian in the Mariana Islands. Inez and their young son moved back to Louisiana and resided in Natchitoches Parish until World War II ended. Henry Sr. was stationed in New Orleans and the young couple made their home on Prytania Street in the Garden District. After Henry Sr.’s honorable discharge from the Navy November 2, 1945 the young couple moved back to Central Louisiana and made their home in Natchitoches Parish. Their second child, Sandra La Cour Hudson was born March 11, 1946 in Natchitoches.

In 1948 Inez and Henry moved their family to Grant Parish for four years and farmed. Inez always said “working on a farm was not what she wanted to spend her life doing”. They moved back to Natchitoches and lived out their lives there. They were both employed at the Natchitoches Trade School. They both enrolled in the GED program and graduated with their high school diplomas at Natchitoches High School in 1953. They were very hard workers supporting the high school band at Natchitoches High School. They retired from the State of Louisiana. Henry proceeded Inez in death on May 22, 1987.

They were married 46 years and worked together raising their two children in their church, Westside Baptist. Inez moved her membership to Trinity Baptist after Henry’s death where she was a member of the Grace Sunday School Class at Trinity. Inez was also active at the Natchitoches Parish Senior Center for many years with the Center’s sponsored trips and activities, the “Red Hats” Ladies and the Homemaker’s Association @ the LSU Extension Office.

Whether you knew Inez as a family member or a friend, “to have known her was special.” She was a dedicated wife and mother, a caring grandmother, a loving great-grandmother who took pride in raising her family.

Also preceding Inez in death was her son, Henry Lee LaCour Jr. and wife Carolyn Futrell LaCour. They are survived by their sons who are Inez’s grandsons: Patrick LaCour of Robeline, Louisiana, John LaCour and wife, Misty of Magnolia, Arkansas, and Jeff LaCour of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Sandra LaCour Hudson and son-in-law, Mike Hudson of West Monroe, Louisiana; Inez’s first-born grandchild, Lee Hudson and his wife Tanya Jones Hudson reside in Bossier City, Louisiana, and great granddaughters, Payton Ashlee Hudson and Landree Elise Hudson are in Lafayette, Louisiana; Inez’s only granddaughter, Kimberlee Hudson Marsala and her husband, Tommy Marsala and great grandchildren Thomas Marsala III, Julia Katherine Marsala and Charles Michael Marsala, reside in Monroe, Louisiana.

In addition, a very special thank you for traveling from Tennessee to West Monroe to sit with her Aunt Inez for a week at the time on different occasions goes to Inez’s niece, Elizabeth Davidson Allen and her husband, Tommy Allen. Inez also enjoyed traveling to Tennessee to visit with them in their home in years past. She will also be missed by Elizabeth and Tommy’s son, T. J. Allen and his wife and family including her great grandnephew, Tristian Allen, all of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Numerous other family members were appreciated and loved by their “Aunt Inez” and they were all special to her. They will miss visiting and reminiscing at family reunions where Aunt Inez shared stories with them about their families.

Those honored to serve as pall bearers will be: Grandsons: Lee Hudson, Patrick La Cour, Jeffery La Cour, Grand Son-in-law: Tommy Marsala, Great Grandsons: Thomas Marsala III & Charlie Marsala, and Nephew-in-law: Tommy Allen.

The last years Inez lived with her daughter, Sandra and son-in-law Mike Hudson in West Monroe, Louisiana. After a visit to her home in Natchitoches for the fourth of July, 2021 Inez asked them to please take her home. With careful planning three ladies devoted themselves to caring for “Ms. Inez” around-the-clock in her home. They were Inez’s “guardian angels” and the family sincerely “thank you” for your endless support and dedication to help Miss Inez live out her life as she wished. Those ladies were a blessing to “Ms. Inez”.

Memorials to honor her memory may be made to Trinity Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
