Huey E. Rachal, a long-time resident of Natchitoches, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at the age of 81. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 21st from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service officiated by Eugene "Man" Dutile, held at the Rachal Cemetery, in Marco, La at 2:30 pm. Huey was born November 23, 1937, in Marco, Louisiana. Son of a farmer, Huey learned the value of hard work at an early age, which helped develop his strong will, determination, and hard work ethic. Huey enlisted in the Marine Corps right after graduating from Cloutierville High School, after an Honorable Discharge he worked as a firefighter with the Pineville Fire Department and then began his career in law enforcement with the Pineville Police Department. He and his family moved to Natchitoches Parish where he continued his career with the Natchitoches Police Department. Huey was dedicated and driven and was quickly promoted to Lieutenant. He was respected & well-liked by fellow officers and all who knew him. An avid hunter and fisherman, he and his family built a home on Bayou Pierre, where he spent his retirement years as a commercial fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Geraldine Rachal; two daughters, Janet Rachal Lott and Melinda A Rachal, both of Natchitoches; son, Nathan H. Rachal of Natchitoches; grandson, Cody D. Lott and granddaughter, Shelby Rachal of Natchitoches; Huey's brother, "JC" Joseph Rachal of Deville, La & his sister, Cecelia Rachal Prudhomme of Natchitoches. He was preceded in death by his parents McKinley Rachal & Louise Duthile Rachal; sisters, Velma Rachal Lutrell & Bessie Rachal Delrie both of Pineville; grandson, Christopher H Rachal of Natchitoches & granddaughter, Crystal Rachal Hebert of Benton, La.
