Grant Bowden, a dedicated Veteran Administration Representative and a United States Marine Corp. Veteran, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, at the age of 73. Born on April 26, 1952, in Independence, Iowa, Grant lived a life marked by selflessness and devotion to others.
Throughout his career, Grant exemplified a commitment to service, retiring after many years with the Veteran Administration, where he tirelessly worked to advocate for veterans' needs. His military service was likewise distinguished; he was honorably discharged as a Captain of the United States Marine Corps after spending significant time overseas in various capacities for the United States Government.
Known for his generous spirit, Grant was proud of his contributions to the community, most notably as a key figure in spearheading the Natchitoches Veterans Memorial, which stands as a testament to his dedication to honoring fellow veterans.
Grant leaves behind his three beloved children: Will Bowden, Lucy Lee Bowden, and Francis Abigail Bowden; the mother of his children, Lucy Poston, with whom he maintained a close companionship throughout his life. Additionally, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Amy Poston, and close family friend, Carla Bond, both of whom cherished his friendship and support.
A memorial service to honor Grant's life and legacy will be held on July 16, 2025, at the VFW Post 1962 in Natchitoches, Louisiana, beginning at 10:00 AM, with the service being officiated by Father Frank Fuller. Family, friends, and all who were touched by Grant’s kindness and service are invited to attend and celebrate a life well-lived.
