Grace Marie Porter Lucas-Sargee

Marie was born February 24, 1966 to James Porter and Juanita Duerksen Porter on Sandia Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She passed away June 3, 2023 in her home in Natchitoches after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Marie faced many hardships in her lifetime and experienced many joys. She was a kind hearted person who would do anything she could to help anyone in need. She was very proud of serving her country for 11 years in the U.S. Army. Most of all she enjoyed the friendships she developed working at Wal-Mart, she loved her children dearly, and loved her late-in-life husband Greg. A
single mom for 32 years, she told her husband Greg that she had finally found the person she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. Her only wish was that there had been more time.

She is preceded in death by her father James Porter of Greenville, South Carolina, and her sister Carol Porter of Simpsonville, South Carolina.

She is survived by her mother Juanita Reynaga of Simpsonville, South Carolina, husband Greg Sargee of Natchitoches, daughter Amanda Coleman and Dee of Seguin, Texas, son Russell Porter of Seguin, Texas, daughters Myla Porter and Joliviya Porter, of Natchitoches, son Jarod Porter of Goldonna, step-son Matthew Sargee of Natchitoches, brother James Porter of Simpsonville, South Carolina, sisters Vilma Lawson of Campti, and Donna Mayfield and Lin of Boerne, TX; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins from South Carolina to New Mexico.

Visitation for Marie will be held at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 9:00 am with services to follow at 10:00 am in the chapel, Matthew Pagels officiating.
