Gloria Bea Landrum

February 7, 1944 — July 7, 2025

Funeral services for Gloria Bea Landrum will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m.

Gloria was born in the old Natchitoches hospital on February 7, 1944, and is predeceased by her parents, John H. Landrum, Sr., of Natchez, LA, and Norma Russell Landrum of Coushatta, LA. She is survived and greatly loved by her siblings, John Landrum Jr. (Judith), Barbara Landrum Foulk, and Anita Landrum Hutchinson (Jim). Gloria was lovingly known as “Aunt Bea” by her beloved seven nieces and nephews, John Landrum III, Michael Landrum, Angela F. Partington, Bradley Foulk, Erin H. Moyer, Amy Hutchinson, Matthew Hutchinson, and seven great nieces and nephews: Braden Partington, Noah Partington, Anna Partington, Jack Partington, Jude Partington, Ava Moyer, and Andrew Moyer. We would be remiss not to list the loves of her life - the dogs. Teeny, Rowdy, and Ginger will miss her at Thanksgiving, while Chicory undoubtedly was waiting with a wagging tail for her at the Pearly Gates.

When she was very young, her family moved from Natchitoches to Marthaville, LA. From there, they moved to South Louisiana, settling in Marrero, where she graduated from West Jefferson High School in 1962. After high school, she studied and became a beautician, practicing in Marrero, then Waveland, MS. Not content with hairdressing, Gloria, a single female, relocated to Houston, TX, and found a more traditional office job as a bookkeeper for Geogram Corporation, a surveying company. With the advancement of technology and word processing in the workplace, she went to night school and became proficient enough to seek out a meager living working for herself and temp agencies.

During this time, computer technology began to emerge in the workplace. It was here she discovered her superpower - she understood computers! She went back to school (again!) to hone and master computer skills. Soon she landed a dream job, working for law professors and the Texas School of Law. In 2009, Gloria retired from the law school. After 39 years surviving in Houston as a single, self-supporting woman, Gloria returned to her native Louisiana to live near her siblings. On July 7, 2025, Gloria peacefully passed away in Shreveport at the age of 81.
