Glennie Grace Dowden Scarborough

August 11, 1930 — July 17, 2021

Glennie Grace Dowden Scarborough Close your eyes and think of the person who mattered the most to you. To us, Glennie Grace Dowden Scarborough was someone that mattered immensely. She was a wife to James Henry Scarborough (Papaw Duke) for almost 73 years. She was a mother to James Henry Scarborough, Jr. (Jim) and his wife Kathy, and Robert Younge Scarborough (Robin) and his wife Mandy. And a sister to Winnie Wyatt of Glen Rose, Texas. A gathering of friends and family will take place Tuesday evening, July 20, 2021 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Please bring your favorite memories, stories, and laughter to remember such a wonderful Christian lady. Wednesday morning, July 21, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, we will rejoice and celebrate the awesomeness of Glennie Scarborough. Her nephew, Mark Wyatt, will lead us in this celebration. Assisting will be Sherman Vogel. Glennie, 90 years young, is preceded in death by her parents Bryant Young Dowden and Ollie Dell Moss Dowden; and a brother, Bryant Young Dowden Jr. Mee-Mee’s blessings are seen in the faces of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Robert Younge Scarborough (Little Rob) and wife Misty, and their two sons, Trey and Noah. Samantha Beasley and her husband Jeremy; Tabitha Morrow and her husband, Nathan; James Johnson Scarborough, wife Abby, and their four children Jay, Sam, Ollie, and Lilly; Cody Scarborough, and his wife Brook, and their four children, Aeden, Harley, Julia, and Emma; Jason Robertson, wife Cissy, and their daughter Brianna. Glennie was born on August 11, 1930 and gained her angel wings on July 17, 2021. She was born in Robeline, but grew up in the Good Hope Community. Once a teacher, always a teacher! Whether in the public school system for 31 years or at Cypress Baptist Church teaching Sunday School for 67 years. But don’t stop there, she taught proper etiquette to her granddaughters, whether it was a proper table setting, or sewing, or flower arrangements. There’s a saying…The things you do for yourself are gone when you are gone, but the things you do for others remain as your legacy! We can truthfully say that Glennie sewed or hemmed or stitched or quilted something for enough folks to have left a legacy. Honored to carry their Mee-Mee to her finally resting place will be grandsons and great grandsons: Robbie, James, Cody, Jay, Sam, Trey, Aeden, and Noah. Graveside services will be at Cypress Baptist Church 167 Old Highway 494 Cypress, LA 71457. A love and kindness that was given so freely to our precious Mee Mee can not be repaid, but hoping God blesses you richly; many thanks to Kim Normand, Nurse Hannah Watley, Nurse Marie McDaniel, and Dominic Metoyer.
