Gladys Stutts Ballard, 78 years of age and a long-time resident of Provencal passed away on March 23, 2020. She was born on February 21, 1942, to Washington and Mary Jacob Stutts in Pleasant Hill, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Ballard, Sr.; and siblings, Dessie Savell, Hatie Brown, Lessie Kirkland, Chester Stutts, Earl Stutts, and Larry Stutts. She is survived by her daughters, Carla A. Matkin, Lisa L. Youman, and Brenda L. Thomisee; sons, Cecil W. Ballard, Lester G. Bynog, and John F. Ballard, Jr.; a brother, Jessie Stutts; grandchildren, Larry Wayne, Andy, Kristen, Kathryn, Joshua, Hannah, Isaac, Stacey, Derek, Courtney, Lee, Lesley, Tracey, Stephen, and Reuben; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gladys was a strong Christian lady, deep-rooted in her faith, and enjoyed worshiping her savior at Provencal United Pentecostal Church. She had a smile that would light up any room and was quick to give a hug to show how much she cared. She was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. We know with certainty that we will be reunited with her one day in heaven. Due to restrictions placed on everyone during the COVID-19 pandemic, a private graveside service will be held at Pinegrove Cemetery near Hagewood, LA with Pastor James Whitehead officiating. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Joshua Ballard, Reuben Thomisee, Lee Thomisee, Lesley Thomisee, Stephen Thomisee, Tracey Thomisee, and honorary pallbearer will be Cecil Ballard.
