George E. Wetherington

Funeral services for George Edward “Doc” Wetherington will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 12 noon at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Pastor Rusty Thrift officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 , for a visitation from 10 am until service time, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.

Doc was born on June 25, 1933 to Charlie Wetherington and Beulah Channell Wetherington in Arkadelphia, AR and passed away on July 28, 2025 in Alexandria, LA. Doc is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Migna Wetherington; his second wife, Delores Wetherington; his daughter, Angela Capello; his brother, Carroll Wetherington; and his brother-in-law, Jackie Hartwick. Left to cherish his memory are his son-in-law, Kenny Capello; grandsons, Nicholas Capello (Amy) and Lance Capello (Coty); great-grandchildren, Bianca Capello, Fiona Capello, and Aria Capello; sister, Iva Lee Hartwick; brother, Roy Cleveland Wetherington (Virginia); and sister-in-law, Joyce Wetherington.

After serving his country in the Army, Doc served his community as a chiropractor. He practiced for 35 years in Springhill, LA and in Natchitoches, LA. He was a loving man, liked to have fun, and was a jokester. He enjoyed exercising, staying fit and healthy, and walked 2 miles a day. He was a faithful member at Westside Baptist Church in Natchitoches and served as a deacon for many years. After Mrs. Delores passed away, he moved to Alexandria and became a faithful member of Hope Baptist Church. He will truly be missed by those who knew him.
