George Joseph “Sonny” Haydel, III, born on December 19, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana, surrounded by his cherished family and friends. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, George leaves behind a legacy that is marked by love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit.
George dedicated the majority of his life to a successful career in sales, ultimately retiring as a Kilpatrick Life Insurance Agent. Known for his uncanny ability to engage others, he had a remarkable talent for storytelling and a great sense of humor that endeared him to many. His charisma enabled him to forge connections effortlessly, making everyone feel like they were his best friend.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, George proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1969, where he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. His military service was a source of pride for him.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanette Harris Haydel. He was a caring father to his sons, Jason Haydel and Timothy White, Jr. (April), and his daughters, Catherine Cannon (Lisa) and Angela Sifuentes. As a proud grandfather, he doted on his grandchildren: Jordan Adams, Whitney Clark, Pearl Sifuentes, Amber Sifuentes, Olivia Sifuentes, Cody Colombrito (Candace), and Colton Colombrito. George embraced his role as a great-grandfather to Jaxon, Addison, Augustus, Aliyah, Delilah, Annie, Josh, and Declan, filling their lives with joy and much-loved memories. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Bo Harris (Lynn); nephews, David Harris (Erica) and Brenton Harris; and great-niece and great-nephew, Destiny Harris and Nathan Harris.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Joseph Haydel, Jr. and Ann Duquanna Haydel; his daughter, Brandi Haydel Adams; a sister, Georgie Ann Haydel; and a great-grandchild, Alyson Grace. Each of these losses shaped the path of George's life and those he loved deeply.
To celebrate George's life, a memorial service will be held on August 4th, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, Louisiana with Matthew Pagels officiating. Following the service, George will be laid to rest during a 1:30 pm inurnment ceremony at the Northwest LA Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana.
George Joseph “Sonny” Haydel, III, will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his zest for life, and his unmatched ability to bring a smile to all around him. May he rest in peace.
