Genevieve Marie Verzwyvelt Smith “Bee”, 94, of Natchitoches passed from this life December 7th, 2022, at the Courtyard of Natchitoches. After graduating from high school, she attended Louisiana College and became an army cadet registered nurse. She provided care to many residents of Natchitoches for twenty plus years as Supervisor of nurses at the Natchitoches Parish Health Unit. She was a loving wife, caring mother, compassionate grandmother; a truly genuine woman and devout catholic who believed greatly in the three virtues: faith, hope, and love. She enjoyed family vacation, sports teams – Saints and LSU, and those surprise trips to the casino. She was our “Queen Bee.” She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Kirby Smith II; parents, John and Jessie Verzwyvelt; sister, Gloria DuHadway and son-in-law, Cecil Wayne Guillory. Those left to cherish her memory are: daughter, Cathy Guillory of Ville Platte; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Randy Mayeaux of Ville Platte; daughter and son-in law, Martha and David Sparks of Natchitoches; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas K. and Rosemary Smith of Natchitoches; son, Johnny Smith of Natchitoches; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Michael DeBlieux of Natchitoches; and son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Gina Smith of Natchitoches. Twenty-six grandchildren: Jake Guillory, Chris Guillory, Carrie Aguillard, Matt Guillory, Marybeth Guillory, Colby Mayeaux, Wesley Mayeaux, Megan O’Connor, Erin Vidrine, Douglas Champion, Melissa Horton, Danielle Thomisee, Michelle Arnold, Kirby Peddy, Ashley Bartels, John Tyler Smith, Melanie Soileau, Lizzy Bouchie, Dillon DeBlieux, Meredith Smith, Lauren Smith, Cameron Smith, and Anna Katherine Smith; thirty-eight great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers: Jake Guillory, Chris Guillory, Douglas Champion, Colby Mayeaux, Matt Guillory, Wesley Mayeaux, Dillon DeBlieux, and John Tyler Smith. Services will be held at St. Anne Chapel (Old River) at 9:00 a.m., rosary at 10:30 a.m., and mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9th, 2022 with Father Charlie Ray officiating. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the caregivers at the Courtyard of Natchitoches especially: Shirley Calhoun AKA Pinky, Samantha Anthony, and Jacqueline Hendricks.
