Eric Rupert Nelson

Eric Nelson, 79, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022, in Tacoma, Washington with his daughter by his side. Eric was preceded in death by his parents Ezra Nelson, Dorothy Welch Nelson and sister Sue Nelson Durr. He is survived by his two children, Peter Nelson Denver, Colorado, and Kelly Nelson Smith of Tacoma Washington. As well as his grandchildren Tyler Nelson, Amber Nelson, Clover Nelson, and Carter Smith. Eric leaves behind his siblings, Frank Nelson of Lake Charles, LA, Jean Nelson Pitt of Shreveport, LA and Gerald Wayne Nelson, Robeline, LA. Eric was a 1961 graduate of Marthaville High School, where he played basketball. 1965 Graduate from Northwestern State College with a degree in Accounting. He worked as a CPA before being drafted in the Army. He served in the Army from 1967-1969 in the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart and many other medals. After his service, he moved to Houston, TX and worked in Accounting in the Oil Industry. 2020 he moved to Seattle, Washington to be near to his daughter. Per Eric’s instructions, Graveside service will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Lambertown Cemetery, Shamrock, Louisiana.
