Elizabeth Joyce Balzrette Richey of Robeline, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the age of 67 years, surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Elizabeth shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband of 44 years, Marvin. Together, they built a family filled with love, memories, and countless moments that will be treasured forever. Elizabeth was a devoted wife and mother who took great pride in her family and found some of her greatest joy in watching her children and grandchildren grow.
She leaves behind her husband, Marvin; her daughters, Robyn and her husband, Brett; Kelley and her husband, Pat; and Erin and her husband, Dustin. She was a cherished grandmother to Nikita, Taylor, Jacob, Jayden, and Luke, and great grandmother to Kaileb. She is also survived by her sisters, Alma, Faye, and Kathy, along with numerous relatives and dear friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her brother, Joe, and her parents, Ellen and JB.
Elizabeth was a woman of faith and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Her relationship with her church and church family was an important part of her life. She found strength and comfort in her faith and treasured the friendships and fellowship she shared through her church.
Elizabeth also had a special love for gardening and expressed it in working with the Master Gardener Association of Natchitoches. She found peace and happiness tending to her plants and flowers, taking pride in watching them grow and bloom. Her love of gardening reflected the care she brought to many things in her life.
Above all, Elizabeth loved her family. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, beloved sister, and dear friend. Her family will carry her memory with them in the stories they share, the lessons she taught them, and the countless moments of love and laughter they shared together.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation on Friday, August 14, from 5 pm until 7:30 pm at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:30 pm in the funeral home chapel. A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 15 at The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Natchitoches; a lunch reception will immediately follow at the Catholic Daughter’s Hall located walking distance from the Basilica. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Regina Pacis #1372 or the charity of your choice.
