Elizabeth Rachal Ragan, born on December 23, 1942, in Cypress, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at her residence in Clarence, Louisiana, on March 25, 2026. Her life was marked by devotion to family, faith, and community, leaving behind a legacy cherished by all who knew her.

Elizabeth dedicated a significant portion of her life to serving the community and customers at Exchange Bank, where her commitment and kindness touched many. Her career was more than a profession; it was a testament to her enduring spirit of service and care for those around her.

A long-time member of Clarence Baptist Church, Elizabeth’s faith was central to her life. She served her Lord and Savior with unwavering dedication, participating actively as a teacher, an officer, and a member of various committees. She took great joy in leading special activities for the children, reflecting her nurturing nature and deep commitment to the congregation.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Sebastian Rachal, Jr. and Esssie Hillman Rachal; her husband, William Herman Ragan; and her brothers, Sebastian Rachal, III, and Douglas Arlen Rachal, Sr. 

She is survived by her son, Samuel Leroy Ragan, and his wife, Robin; her granddaughters, Chelsi Ragan Howard and her husband Jonathan, and Morgan Ragan Austin and her husband Joseph; and her great-grandchildren, Braxton, Anna Margaret, and Ragan Marie. Additionally, Elizabeth is survived by her stepchildren Ella Sue Ragan Fredieu, Herman Wayne Ragan, and Jamie Claire Ragan McKay; her sister, Cynthia Rachal Jennings, and her husband Billy; and her brother, Glendall Wayne Rachal.

Elizabeth Rachal Ragan’s enduring faith, compassion, and dedication to her family and community have left an indelible mark. She will be remembered with respect and affection by all whose lives she enriched.

A service to honor her life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Butch Rogers officiating.  Burial will follow at Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches.  The family will receive friends from 9 am until service time on Saturday the 28th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Douglas Rachal, Jr., Trey Rachal, Sebastian Rachal, Jonathan Howard, Joseph Austin, James Rachal, Cooper Rachal, and Charles Shivers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Jennings, Ruben Rachal, and Tyler Woods.
