Elizabeth Gallien Gilcrease, age 76 of Natchitoches, Louisiana died Monday, July 22, 2024 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. She was born November 30, 1947 to Joseph Nicholas Gallien, Jr. and Josephine Beatrice LaCour Gallien in Natchitoches, Louisiana. “Beth” was a lifetime member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Campti, Louisiana. She graduated from Campti High School in 1965. She married Chester Gilcrease on January 6th, 1967.
After completing trade school in 1966, she started her career working for the State of Louisiana through her retirement. She worked at the Natchitoches Parish Health Unit, Probation and Parole and the Natchitoches Mental Health Clinic. Beth was a devout Catholic and enjoyed spending time with her family and always looked forward to her annual sister trips. She enjoyed going to the casino and traveling to visit her daughter in Washington. In her later years, she and Chester enjoyed sitting on their front porch with a good cup of coffee, bird watching and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings: Elaine Bostick, Linda Ropollo, Patricia Gullo, Joseph L. Gallien, Marie Barton, Jeannie Franks, Gloria, Evelyn and Timothy Gallien.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, Chester Gilcrease, her daughter, Eunice Kay “Katie” Gilcrease, her sisters: Celeste Bryant (Frank) of Rayville, LA and Suzanne Coble (Bill) of Longview, TX; her brothers: Jim Gallien, Sr. of Natchitoches, LA, Jerry Gallien (Carol) and David Gallien (Janie) of Campti, LA and brother-in-law, Tony Ropollo of Shreveport, LA. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Danny Gallien, David Gallien, Kevin Gallien, Dez Gallien, Josh Franks, and Justin Johnson.
Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches where the family will receive visitors from 5:00 - 9:00 pm on Friday, July 26, 2024. A rosary will be held at 6:30 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Campti on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Gus "Dutch" Voltz officiating. Burial will follow at the Weaver Cemetery in Flora, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be directed to the Lady’s Altar Society of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Campti.
The family would like to thank her caregivers and all the healthcare workers that helped her have a quality of life these last three years.
