Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie “Elaine” Dunn will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2020 in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Rachal Cemetery in the Marco Community. The family will receive friends on Thursday morning from 8 a.m. until service time at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Elaine Dunn, 78 years of age and a resident of the Marco Community, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 3, 1942 to Willie Varnell and Lucy Iona Ebert in Winnfield, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lawrence M. Dunn, Sr., son, Lawrence M. Dunn, Jr., sister, Darcey Orr, and brother, John W. Varnell. She married the love of her life, Lawrence M. Dunn, Sr., on October 3, 1967, and of this union they had five beautiful children, and being their mama was her favorite job of all. She loved to work with the flowers in her yard, and in her spare time, crocheting. She often served her community as the local hair stylist. She could cut, color, and perm everyone’s hair. She could sew just about anything, all of her children took pride in the clothes she made for them. Her smothered fried chicken was like no other and was a family hit at family dinners. She loved to do all these things, but her greatest joy of all was her children, grandbabies, and great-grandbabies. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children, Renee LaCaze and husband Patrick, Darrell Dunn and wife, Kayla, Lucina Puckett and husband Craig, Ryan Dunn and wife Angela; grandchildren, Kenessa Dunn, Doyle “DJ” Dunn, Eric Dunn, Preston Wilson, Joseph Dunn, Shelby Dunn, and Seth Puckett; great-grandchildren, Austin Riddle, Mia Wilson, Braddyx Wilson, and Grayson Dunn; brother, Henry K. Ebert; and daughter-in-law, Jackie Dunn. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be DJ Dunn, Eric Dunn, Shelby Dunn, Seth Puckett, Austin Riddle, Preston Wilson, and Butch Orr. Honorary pallbearer will be Joseph Dunn.
