Edward D. Trichel, a beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, in Minden, Louisiana, at the age of 85. Born on March 18, 1940, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, to Eddie Trichel and Loraine Gourdon Trichel.
Edward dedicated more than half of his life to working for Madden Contracting Company, taking pride in a hard day’s work and the life he built through it. From an early age, he embraced a love for the great outdoors, finding joy in hunting trips, fishing and tending to his garden. These pursuits gave him cherished memories and moments shared with family and friends. Though he could be stern and set high standards, he always came through for those who needed him. In later years, he enjoyed quiet moments watching westerns, savoring a glass of Jack Daniel’s, and reflecting on a life well lived.
Edward is survived by his children, Pat Trichel (Shauna Blair), Kristie Stevenson (Jon), and Susie Seipp (Erik). He leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Brian Gulett (Sabrina), P.J. Trichel (Alex), Kourtlyne Bird (Jordan), Chandler Stevenson, and Caleb Seipp. His great-grandchildren, Noah Gulett, Harper Gulett, and Attalyne Bird will also remember him fondly. Edward’s family bond was further enriched by his brother, Doug Trichel (Cynthia), and his two nephews, Jonathan Trichel (Lynn) and Jason Trichel (Gargi) and 4 great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Mary Loraine Gourdon Trichel, and a daughter, Sandy Sugg. Edward’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
A graveside service honoring Edward’s life will take place on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Clear Lake Cemetery near Goldonna, Louisiana, starting at 1:00 PM. The family invites friends for visitation at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, Louisiana, on January 8, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Edward D. Trichel’s spirit will live on in the lives of his family and friends, remembered for the values he instilled and the lessons he taught through a life of hard work, dedication, and example.
