Dorothy Fay Martin

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Martin will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm on Saturday the 27th at Blanchard-St. Denis. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Benjamin Martin, Jr., Jackson Martin, J.P. Cotton, Ben Garcia, Willie Garcia, and Wade Goings. Honorary pallbearer will be Eric Williams. Dorothy Martin passed away on February 25, 2021 in Natchitoches. She was born on May 19, 1932 to Dewey Murray and Elsie Gilcrease Murray in Derry, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leroy Martin; a son, Steve Martin; a grandson, Benjamin Martin, III; and siblings, Lela Dalme, Betty Davenport, Lavada “Sugar” Tanner, and Harry Vanhook. Dot truly loved life. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends and her exuberance for life made her so much fun to be around. She was a very competitive and skilled cards and dominos player, and was always up for a game. Her greatest treasure on earth was her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she dearly loved all of them. She will be greatly missed but always remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her children, Jeanie Cotton and husband Bart, Susan Martin, Benjamin Martin, Jr. and wife Belinda, and Lisa Martin; her grandchildren, Eric Williams, Melissa Galatas, Codie Goings, Willie Garcia, J.P. Cotton, Ben Garcia, and Jackson Martin; and numerous great grandchildren.
