Dorothy Holland

Dorothy Lee Holland, 94 years young of Huntsville, TX, went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2020 with her family by her side. Dorothy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother & great-great grandmother. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother until she passed away at 96; also including her "puppy" Comba and beloved Bandit. She loved gardening, taking special care of all of her many flowers. She loved to sit and quilt, making each of us beautiful quilts throughout the years. She taught Sunday school for many years and loved her bible study group. She adored her family, each one of us blessed by her love. She loved getting together with her family to go eat her favorite Mexican food! She also never passed up a day to go shopping with the girls and get her nails done! Dorothy was born in Vowells Mill, Louisiana on April 24, 1926, to James & Truey Gibson. Dorothy was married to Leroy Holland for 77 years. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Helen Schultz and son-n-law, Jerry Schultz of Huntsville, Tx. Her grandchildren, Terry Bohannon & wife Melanie, Debbie Lara & husband Zeno, Deanna Oliver & husband Keith. Great-grandchildren Brandan Lara, Bailee Mendoza & husband Michael, Caleb & Trinity Oliver. Great-great grandchildren are Zadan Lara, Alexis & Madisyn Mendoza. She is preceded in death by her son Harlan Holland & husband LeRoy Holland. A service to honor her life will be held at 11 am Friday, October 30, 2020 in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Vowells Mill, LA. The family will receive friends from 10 am until service time on the 30th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
