Dorothy "Dot" Mae Tullos Robertson

May 16, 1929 — August 10, 2022

Our dear mother, Dorothy “Dot” Mae Tullos Robertson, 93, sadly passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Natchitoches, Louisiana. Visitation with family begins at 1 PM. Dot was a wonderful mother who was always a beautiful example of Christ. Born in Sikes, Louisiana on May 16, 1929 to Baskin A. Tullos and Annie Roberts Tullos. Dot was middle sister to older brother B.A. Tullos and baby sister, Reeta Gayle Tullos. She graduated from Chatham High School where her parents were both educators, then went on to earn her bachelor's and her master's degrees in Music Education from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Upon completion of her studies, she taught music education in several schools throughout her early 20’s in northeast Louisiana and was the instrumentalist for several churches in Jackson Parish until she met the love of her life, E. W. “Dub” Robertson. They were married June 9, 1951 in Chatham, La., and they lived in Lake Charles, La for 2 years until they moved to Natchitoches where they started Robertson Insurance Agency and began their family. Natchitoches has been her home since 1954. Dot is survived by her children, E.W. “Bill” Robertson (Ann) of Rancho Santa Margarita, California; Danny Tullos Robertson (Ruth) of Natchitoches, Louisiana; and Donna Gayle Robertson Worley (Jay) of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. She is “Mimi” to her grandchildren: Amie Mischel, of Los Angeles, California, Robert Mischel, of Mission Viejo California, Scotty Mischel of Mission Viejo, Ca (deceased), Bethany Robertson Rush (Craig) of Norfolk, Virginia; Danny “Dan” Tullos Robertson, Jr (Shannon) of Jacksonville, Texas; Payton Harris (Tracey) of Stonewall, Louisiana; Jed Harris (Amaris) of Monroe, Louisiana; Jordan Harris of Natchitoches, Louisiana; Jared West Worley and Morgan Faith Worley D'Amico (Jeff) of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and Anna Catherine Robertson of Ruston, Louisiana. Dot has 19 adoring great grandchildren, Christopher, Conner, Tyler, Kyle, Parker, Tyce, Cady, Keri, Avery, Elliott, Evelyn, Everett, Lyla, Heidi, Hazel, Lily, Arthur, Elijah, and Jace. Dot was an active member of First Baptist Church of Natchitoches where she was the organist for more than 50 years. She taught generations of children and adults piano lessons out of her home for more than 30 years and would teach her students whatever they wanted to learn, from beloved hymns and classical movements to patriotic selections, show tunes, and ragtime. Dot loved music and she spread her gift wherever she went. She was grateful she could lend her musical talents to important occasions such as weddings and funerals over the years, and she once estimated she had played over 300 weddings during her years as church organist. Of great importance to Dot were her years in the P.E.O. sisterhood, which assists women with their educational pursuits. She greatly enjoyed her years in her "By Faith" Bible Study class, Womens Missionary Union, and Hearth-warmers at FBC. Through the years, She also taught sunday school with her husband Dub, directed the FBC Handbell Choir, and led the Girls in Action group. Dot touched the lives of many in her life of fulfillment and influence. Dot never met a stranger. Her family was always the last to leave an event, as she enjoyed catching up with those she knew, getting to know others, and connecting dots with acquaintances everywhere she went. Dot will be remembered most for her sweet spirit. She was a beautiful soul with such a generous servant heart, and was always happy, witty, caring and thoughtful. Everyone loved her and they knew she loved them by her warm countenance. She loved deeply and will be deeply missed. A special thank you to her care givers over the years, who became part of our family… Lurlean Owens, Cindy Maggio, Jessie Sharpley, Beverly Rachal, Joyce Robinson, and Ashley Shoemaker.
