Dorothy Kay Burt, born on April 5, 1946, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, peacefully departed this life on September 19, 2025, in her hometown. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose spirit and warmth touched the lives of many around her.
Dorothy took pride in her career as a hairdresser after graduating from Cosmetology School, a role that allowed her to connect with people and share her talents. Later in life, she embraced her role as a homemaker, finding joy in creating a nurturing and loving environment for her family. Her home was not just a residence; it was a sanctuary filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories.
In addition to her career and homemaking, Dorothy was known for her cooking skills. She delighted her family and friends with her famous chicken and dumplings and homemade gravy. Her love for cooking was matched only by her love for gardening, where she found tranquility among the flowers she so dearly loved. Dorothy's devotion to her grandchildren was evident; she delighted in spoiling them and making every moment special. Her heart was full of affection, which she shared generously as she embraced the role of a matriarch in her family.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Jack Burt; her daughter, Tracy Hodge, and her husband Jason, along with their children, Autumn, Jadyn, and Reagan; her sisters, Jean Clark, Mary Tucker, Mildred Wall, and Rhonda Rachal; her brother, Kenneth Kay; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her deeply.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward "Frog" Neitte, and her brothers, Paul Kay and Billy Kay.
A visitation to honor Dorothy's life will be held on September 21, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home, located at 848 Keyser Ave, Natchitoches, LA 71457.
