Funeral service for Mrs. Doretha “Dot” Rachal LaCaze will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bay Springs Cemetery in Chopin, LA. The family will receive friends from 10 am until 8 pm on Saturday, January 20th at Blanchard-St. Denis and again on Sunday from 8 am until service time.
Doretha “Dot” Rachal LaCaze, 83, died Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette, LA. Doretha was born on July 18, 1940 in Cloutierville, LA to Wallace and Bernice Rachal. Doretha was a resident of Duson, LA and a former resident of Natchitoches Parish.
In 1956 she married the love of her life, Phillip “Pete” LaCaze, Jr. and together they started their family. Doretha was known for her loving ways. She never met a stranger, her door was always open, and she always gave without expecting anything in return. She loved Cajun music and dancing. Her greatest love was for her family, especially her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Doretha is survived by her sons, Rodney LaCaze, Ricky LaCaze (LaDonna), and Richard LaCaze (Kristy); daughters, Janet Lopresto (Alex), and Beverly Reeves (Pap); 14 grandchildren, Amanda, Jason, Brandon, Tiffany, Chelsea, Meagan, Brittany, Derrick, Morgan, Daniel, Dana, Dustin, Ashley, and Laney; 36 great grandkids with 1 great-great on the way; a brother, Robert Rachal; 2 sisters, Bonnie Salard and Martha Long.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Bernice Rachal; husband, Phillip “Pete” LaCaze, Jr.; daughter, Elma Sue; son, Rocky LaCaze; and sister, Johnnie Bea Feazell.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Jason LaCaze, Brandon LaCaze, Daniel Fontenot, Dustin Fontenot, Lance Freeman, and Derrick LaCaze. Honorary pallbearers will be Dylan Aucoin, and Austyn Aucoin.
