Delores Anastasia LaCour

March 7, 1942 — April 7, 2023

Delores Anastacia LaCour was born in Kaplan, LA to the late Robert Breaux, Sr., and Ella Mae Breaux; she passed away on Good Friday, April 7, 2023 in Natchitoches, LA. Delores known to her friends and family as “Dee”, is survived by her husband Simon LaCour of 59 years, son Mark LaCour (Waukegan, IL), and daughter, Phyllis LaCour (Chicago, IL), daughter-in-law, Maria LaCour (Waukegan, IL); Grandchildren; Kristen LaCour, Jeremy LaCour, Megan LaCour, Bianca Sanchez, and Alec Sanchez. Her sister, Barbara Breaux, and brothers Donald Ray Breaux and Charles Breaux. And countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dee was preceded in death by her brothers, Lloyd Breaux, and Robert Breaux, Jr, and sister Marion Breaux Newman.

Dee was loved by so many and her family will forever feel the void. She was a devoted Catholic and in the late 1950’s she moved to Pittsburgh, PA, and lived in a convent where she worked as a nanny. In 1961 her sister Barbara was expecting her 3rd child, and Dee moved to Chicago to help her sister. In Chicago, she met Simon and they married on April 11, 1964.

For more than 30 years, Dee worked as a physical education teacher at Blessed Agnes of the Bohemia School (now St. Agnes) in Chicago, IL. She was a eucharistic minister in the church and a member of the Mother’s Club. Dee was a pillar of her community. She organized “BA” Dances and a weekly open gym to give the teens in the neighborhood a safe place to socialize. Dee started the summer program for all the kids in the community and she brought the first-ever sports program to Blessed Agnes. The children in the community loved her and she loved them. She made every child feel special.

After retirement, she moved to Natchitoches, LA where she became friends, neighbors, and family to all who met her. For those that loved and knew her, she was our “Mother Teresa”.
