Connie Boswell Whitford

Connie Boswell Whitford, 80, of Natchitoches, Louisiana passed away surrounded by her family on June 3, 2022, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's. Connie is survived by her husband of 63 years, Michael Gordon Whitford; children Michael Gordon Whitford, Jr. and his wife Kristen, Amy Whitford deVargas, and Jennifer Whitford Rossi and her husband Jay; grandchildren Caitlyn Whitford, Michael David Whitford, Eric Martinez, Elizabeth Kate deVargas, Will deVargas, Ella Rossi, and Dominic Rossi; sisters Susan Murphy and husband Kenny, and Becky Alost and husband Mike; sister-in-law Marsha Whitford; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Rurel J. and Peggy Boswell, and her son-in-law, Richard Emile deVargas. Connie was born on May 13, 1942, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Her father's occupation led the family to move to many states over the course of her childhood. She had fond memories of the experiences gained at each new place she lived. Her family eventually moved back home to Louisiana where she attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Natchitoches High School in 1959. Connie was the heart of her family. She was a selfless and devoted mother first and foremost. Her home was always filled with love and laughter. She especially loved her role as Grammy, as her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was always happiest when spending time with them. Connie will be remembered for her infectious personality. She never met a stranger and exhibited kindness to all she met. She was the embodiment of grace, beauty, and strength. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Upon her request, a graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Memory Lawn Cemetery, Highway 6, in Natchitoches with Reverend Blake Deshautelle of the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception officiating. The pallbearers are Mike Alost, Christopher deVargas, Will deVargas, Kenneth Murphy, Jay Rossi, and Michael David Whitford. Honorary pallbearers are John Michael Alost and Tony Whitford. The family would like to express sincere thanks to Dr. Bryan A. Picou, Dr. Bryan Picou, Jr., Dr. Warren Botnick, Dr. Kathleen Kautz and the staff of Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.
