David Clary officiating. Our mother had a real zest for life and a love for people. Early in life, she discovered she could make the biggest impact in the lives of children by being in the classroom. She attended Southeastern College and began her career working with special education children in the public school system. Her heart was that of a servant. Later in life, she worked in the field of medical coding and billing, for Acadiana Computer Systems where she eventually retired. Like her father LeRoy, Mom had a passion for art. Before the days of Hobby Lobby, she was a proud owner of an arts and craft supplies store in Ball, LA where she not only sold supplies but, offered classes to the public. She loved creating things through arts and crafts. She passed on her love of crafts to her daughters and grandchildren. Mom also loved to cook! She was always looking for a new recipe to cook with her family and friends. It was nothing to her to whip out a cookbook and start up the kitchen with the mixer, food processor, and ingredients a flying. You’ve never seen a cookbook collection as plentiful as hers. And believe me she couldn’t part with a single one. Mom loved to fish for whatever would bite her hook, it didn’t matter if it was from the bank or the boat, just say the word “fishing” and she was there. As a devoted mother, she loved all her children and grandchildren unconditionally and was always their biggest cheerleader. Any chance she had to go to Destin, Dallas, or to a rodeo to see her grandchildren, she was there ready to support them. She took pride in her children and grandchildren’s successes big or small. She would tell everyone about them and let them know just how proud she was. Mom lived by example. Through her own struggles she taught us to love the Lord, the importance of family, service to our community, how to be resilient, and the true meaning of selflessness and unconditional love. She loved to make people laugh and her sense of humor was quick witted. Mom will be deeply missed by all who knew her and called her friend, mom, nana, sister, or aunt. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for anyone in a moment’s notice. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are: Joseph Townsend, Maj. Evan Kelly, Nicholas Reid Granier, Jacob Townsend, Jaxon Townsend, Josh Thompson, Tommy Rhodes, and Mark Norsworthy. Honorary pallbearers are Robbie Tanner and Ethan Tanner. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her work bring her praise at the city gate. Proverbs 31:31
