Clifton Leo Rachal (Cliff), born November 25, 1938, was a devoted father, grandfather, and outdoorsman whose life was rooted in family, hard work, and a deep love for nature.
Cliff graduated from Flora High School in 1956 and went on to build a long and dedicated career with the City of Natchitoches, from which he later retired. Known for his steady work ethic and quiet strength, he was someone others could always count on.
Outside of work, Cliff found his greatest joy with his grandkids and outdoors, especially when the two came together. He loved hunting and fishing and cherished time spent in nature, especially when it meant sharing those moments with family. Nothing meant more to him than being surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Cliff was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lester and Joyce Rachal of Flora, Louisiana, as well as his brother, Don Rachal.
He was a proud father to four sons: Steve Rachal (Karen), Russell Rachal (LaDonna), Craig Rachal (Marla), and Patrick Rachal (Tish). He was a loving grandfather to Stevie Rachal (Casey), Chelsea Fountain (Josh), Logan Rachal, Ashley Oglesby (Ethan), Courtney Garcia (Chris), Will Rachal (Alexis), Morgan Miller (Jonathan), Rebecca Greer (Jessie), Madelyn Cheatwood (Chase), Hope Rachal (Trevor), Nate Rachal, Alaina Vines, Allison Wilkerson (Stephen), and Lauren Byles (Blake) each of whom held a special place in his heart. Clifton was also blessed with 20 great-grandchildren, with two more eagerly awaited.
In honor of Cliff’s life and legacy, the family has asked Nate Rachal, Jonathan Miller, Jessie Greer, Mike McLaren, Lynn Sibley, and Dewayne Maddox to serve as pallbearers.
Serving as honorary pallbearers, in love and remembrance of Cliff, are Stevie Rachal, Will Rachal, Hunter Rachal, Brayden Rachal, Trevor Barbo, Chase Cheatwood, Ethan Oglesby, Chris Garcia, Josh Fountain, and Roman Ray.
The family is deeply grateful to all the friends and family who offered love, prayers, and support during this difficult time, and especially to ICU nurse Katja Rutt from Cabrini Hospital for her care and compassion. The family would like to extend one final gratitude to Roman and Jourdan Ray.
Cliff Rachal’s life was defined by his love for the outdoors, his strong work ethic, and the way he cared for his family without ever asking for recognition. His quiet kindness and strength live on in the many lives he touched, leaving a legacy that will never be matched.
A funeral service to honor Cliff’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 10 AM at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Bjornberg and Bro. Bill Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Weaver Cemetery in Flora. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 5 PM until 9 PM at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
