Funeral services for Clarence Washer Jr. will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Crews New Salem Baptist Church in Montgomery, LA with Rev. Roger Matkin officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the services in Iatt Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time at 2:00 pm at the church. Clarence, 86 years of age passed away on July 7,2020 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandra, LA, peacefully with family by his side. He was born December 28, 1933 to Clarence Sr. and Ella Washer in Natchitoches, LA. He was an outspoken man full of words of wisdom for all who knew him. He had many things that he loved, whether it was working out in the garden, spending time behind the wheel of a big truck, tossing a line out to catch a fish or two, or watching wresting every chance he got. He enjoyed spending time around the table with his family, especially if there was a sweet treat. He saw many things in his life over the course of his 86 years, but now has received his reward in Glory. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him Proceeded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Eleanor Washer; two sons, Joseph Washer and James Walker; two grandchildren, Ryan Berry and Robbie Sluss; one great-great grandchild, Braxton Sluss. Two sisters, Lilly Davis and Mabel Davis. He is survived by his two daughters Freida Berry and husband Kevin of Natchitoches and Alice Banes of Natchitoches, LA; eight grandchildren, Zachary Berry and wife Magen of Robeline, LA, Allison Berry of Shreveport, LA, Joseph Washer Jr and Samantha Holland of Deridder, LA, Dawn Ponthieux of Powhatan, LA, Dianette Busbin and husband Brett of Tyler Town, MS, Rodney Sluss and wife Nikki of Winnfield, LA, James Sluss of Natchitoches, LA; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; One sister Dorothy Clark of New Mexico. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Zachary Berry, Joseph Washer Jr., Kevin Berry, Erikk Sluss, Lamar St. Andrie, Sr., and James Sluss. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Sluss, Ridge Sluss, Lamar St. Andrie, Jr., and Bobby Myers.
