A service to honor the life of Charles Clifton Ferguson will be held at 1 pm Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Broadway officiating. Burial will follow at Weaver Cemetery in Flora, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, December 30th at Blanchard-St. Denis. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include James Ferguson, J.D. Ferguson, Brandon Ferguson, Tyler Ferguson, Dakota Leone, and Fred Korb. Honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Ferguson, Andy Ferguson, Trevor Pool, and Marcus Broadway. Charles, 91 years of age and a resident of Flora, LA, passed away on December 27, 2020 with his loving family by his side. He was born on December 8, 1929 in Flora, LA to Mose and Lovinia Ferguson. After graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Air force. He served his patriotic duty as a tail gunner in the Korean War. Upon being honorably discharged, he primarily worked as a truck driver with Wholesome Bread, Dr. Pepper, and Radiator Supply but eventually retired from American Oil after many years of service. He also worked at the Cotton Gin in Natchitoches, Dr. Wurster Veterinary Clinic and Right-way Grocery, there wasn't anything he couldn't do. During his free time, nothing brought him more joy than dancing. He would travel to local VFW's and never seemed to miss a Friday or Saturday night at J.J.’s to enjoy dancing with the ones he loved. Outside of dancing, he enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and gardening but his greatest love on earth was his family and friends. He enjoyed many days spending precious time with them. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him. He is survived by his sons, Curtis Ferguson and wife Dawn of Bellwood, Michael Ferguson and wife Cindy of Stonewall, and Stanley Ferguson of Pollock; daughters, Doris Cox and husband David of Paoli, OK and Shirley Broadway and husband Ricky of Panama City, FL; sister, Gertrude Cooksey of Houston, TX. He was very blessed with 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; as well as the family of Virginia McLamore. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mose and Lovinia Ferguson; wife, Roberta Ferguson; son, Robert Ferguson; grandson, Eric Ferguson; granddaughter, Selena Ferguson; great granddaughter, Serenity Childress; a baby sister, Margaret Ferguson; and a loving companion late in life, Virginia McLamore. The family wishes to thank Lagniappe Home Health and Hospice of Natchitoches for the care and compassion shown to Charles and his family during such a difficult time.
