Catherine Biggers Christensen

December 29, 1956 — May 8, 2024

Catherine Biggers Christensen, 67, of Milam, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on May 8, 2024. She was born on December 29, 1956, in New Orleans, LA. to C.L. “Red” Biggers and Elizabeth Shuff Biggers.

Cathy was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved without boundaries asking nothing in return. She became a kind and compassionate caregiver to several friends and family when the need arose. She was outgoing, fun loving and a perfect friend; the kind of friend we all want in our life. In many cases her friends were more like family.

Cathy retired from Oceaneering International where she held various administrative roles. She traveled globally teaching new financial software to other divisions. She filled the role of project administrator on underwater projects across the country where, in one case, she worked from a trailer atop a dam with no running water and even found herself operating a winch on occasion. The diving crews so admired her self-motivation, reliability and caring work ethic that they affectionately dubbed her “The Boss”

Cathy loved travel and spontaneous activities, but her heart belonged to the beach. Navarre Beach in Florida was a favorite. She loved the outdoors and gardening for the benefit of hummingbirds and butterflies. She anxiously awaited their annual migrations. Her favorite indoor hobby was working with essential oils where she could help others.

Cathy is survived by her husband and partner of 30 years, J.S. “Chris” Christensen; son Chris Olivier of La Porte, TX; stepson Erik Christensen of Lafayette, LA; grandson Tyler Olivier of Tyler, TX; sister Betty Jo Strickland of Natchez, MS; sister Bonnie Neal and husband Roy of Albany, LA; and brother Clinton “Red” Biggers, Jr. of Lafayette, LA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, C.L. “Red” and Elizabeth Biggers; and brothers Leo and Buford “Bo” Biggers.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Cathy's honor will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home, 848 Keyser Ave, Natchitoches, LA .  Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. and will last until service time.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Cathy’s name to the Gary Sinise Foundation, the DAV Charitable Service Trust, Liberty Springs Methodist Church in Milam, TX, or other charity of your choice.
