Carrie Elizabeth Johnson

August 7, 1947 — April 12, 2024

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Carrie Elizabeth Johnson, passed away on April 12, 2024, at the age of 76.

Carrie was born to parents Henry Albert Phillips and Carrie Louise Phillips (nee` Kirk) on August 7, 1947, in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She married the love of her life, Thomas (Tommy) Johnson, on February 18, 1967. Together they raised three children: Melvin Johnson , Kelly Norman, and Mary Harford; and were married for 41 years.

Accomplishments she was proud of included getting her drivers license and taking a few college classes at NSU, both done in her 50s. Also, she was a staunch supporter of autism awareness. Carrie never met a person who didn’t smile in her presence because she was just a genuinely nice person. She was like a second mom to many people who loved her. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo and watching westerns; but most of all, she loved her family and friends.

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas (Tommy) Johnson, daughter-in-law Tammy Johnson, and siblings: Mary Wilson, Albert (Gene) Phillips, Kenneth Phillips, Irma (Della) Fredericks, and Jerry Phillips.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Melvin Johnson, Kelly Norman, and Mary Harford; grandchildren: Carrie Etta and husband Chris Keith, Jamie Trichel and Ciderriean, Kevin Norman and fiancé Josie, Thomas Norman and Lexie, Brendon Harford, Jacob Harford, Drake Johnson and Claire, and Carly Johnson; great- grandchildren: Brett, Alex, Aubrianna, and Evan; siblings Johnny Phillips and wife Barbra, Carl Phillips and wife Ethel, Floyd Phillips and wife Lisa, Michael Phillips and wife Renee, Clifton Phillips and wife Effie, Patricia Johnson and husband Lynn; mother-in-law: Aloha Johnson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and hosts of friends.

A memorial service will be held at St Denis Funeral Home, in Natchitoches, LA on April 26, 2024. Visitation will be at 10:00 followed by the memorial service at 11:00.
