Carrie Dunn, born on June 14, 1932, in Cloutierville, LA, peacefully departed this world on January 6, 2024. She was the cherished daughter of Neal Dunn, Sr. and Mary LaCour Dunn. Carrie's journey through life was marked by love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family. In the early 1950s, she ventured to Los Angeles, seeking greener pastures. There, she embraced her primary roles as a devoted mother to her children, Helen and Roy, and as a diligent housewife. However, her spirit thrived even further when she joined the Latchford Glass Co factory as a glass packer and many more factory jobs throughout the years.
In the early 1970’s, Carrie made the heartfelt decision to return to Cloutierville, where she resided with her beloved mother, Mary LaCour Dunn. Briefly she worked side by side with her niece, Mary Neal, packing chickens at ConAgra, sharing not only the daily grind but also moments of laughter and camaraderie.
Carrie was a woman of discipline and health-conscious habits, faithfully engaging in "Taking her exercises" every day. Her commitment to fitness was reflected in her admiration for Jack Lalanne and Jane Fonda workouts, embodying a spirit of vitality that inspired those around her.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Neal Dunn, Sr. and Mary LaCour Dunn, as well as her siblings Thomas Dunn, Paul Dunn, George Dunn, and Neal Dunn Jr., and son-in-law Victor Gomez, Sr. Although our hearts ache with the weight of her absence, we find solace in celebrating the rich tapestry of her life.
Carrie is survived by her loving daughter Helen Gomez, devoted son Roy Rachal (Carmina), and a legacy of grandchildren who carry her spirit forward: Victor Gomez, Jr., Darren Gomez (April), Jason Rachal (Carmen), Christie Rachal, and Courtney Rachal (Charles II.). The joy of her existence continues through great-grandchildren Nicholas Gomez, Victoria Gomez, Maggie
Gomez, Carlina Gomez, Drew Rachal, Ian Rachal, and Dominic Rachal. Additionally, a new generation embraces her legacy, with one great-great-grandchild, Lennon Gomez, and an additional grandchild and great-grandchild expected soon. She is also cherished by a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
Carrie Dunn's memory will forever be engraved in our hearts as a beacon of love, strength, and perseverance. May she find eternal peace, surrounded by the warmth of the love she shared with all who were fortunate to know her.
