Carolyn Moreland Shannon passed away May 24, 2025, in Natchitoches, LA. Carolyn was born and raised in New Era, La to Numa Cambell and Harvey Moreland on August 16, 1933. She was the youngest of 5. A memorial will be held on June 7, 2025, at her residence at 1 p.m.
Carolyn graduated from Northwestern State College with a business degree and spent most of her business life in Houston, Tx. While there, she met the love of her life David W. Shannon. They married on April 19, 1957, and had two beloved children. Carolyn worked at Houston Lighting and Power until she retired. After retiring she enjoyed traveling with her sisters and visiting many places. Carolyn eventually settled back in Natchitoches with her favorite granddaughter while she attended NSU. Carolyn enjoyed having her family come over for the Christmas Festival regularly cramming over 20 people in her home, but she so enjoyed having them there. She also enjoyed playing card games, especially skip bo and canasta (she cheated!!!) with her family and making many memories. Carolyn is a wonderful lady and considered herself as a recycled teenager. Carolyn has four grandkids and three great grandkids that she loved oh so much.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, the love of her life David Shannon, her siblings, Alba Book, Elaine Kroeger, Harvey Moreland Jr., Charles Moreland, her son Craig Shannon, daughter Erin White and son in law Robert White. Carolyn is survived by her daughter in love Susan Shannon of Houston, grandsons Chris Shannon, Stephen Shannon and wife Cynthia of Houston, and Andrew White of Natchitoches and only granddaughter Angela Taylor and husband Todd of Provencal. Three great grandkids, Jozie Anderson of Houston, Ryan and Maci-Grace Taylor of Provencal. Carolyn also has many Nieces and Nephews scattered all around.
