Carolyn Frances "Lyn" Nalle Burke

Lyn was born June 25, 1951 to Carolyn Woolley Nalle and Dr. Brodie C. Nalle, Jr. in Albuquerque, NM. She grew up in Shreveport, La. where she met David L. Burke on a blind date and the rest is history. They both attended Northwestern State College. After graduation, they settled down in Natchitoches. They had two sons, David Paul and Stephen Ward. Stephen predeceased Lyn in May 2024. She is survived by her husband, son, a brother Brodie C. Nalle, III, brothers and sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. Lyn made many friends in Natchitoches including George (deceased) and Gail Batson, Stephen's Godparents, and their son David, and later, his wife Mary and Lyn's surrogate granddaughters Catherine and Anna Batson whom she loved very much. Many years of camping trips, vacations, and back yard cookouts cemented the bonds of friendship and family. The Burke family moved to Beaumont, Tx. In 1990 for David's work, but the two families stayed close and maintained their relationship with frequent visits, vacations, and camping trips. “Auntie” Lyn and “Unka” David and the boys moved back to Natchitoches in 2017 following their retirements as planned.

Lyn had been in declining health the past few years and experienced a sudden medical event at home.

The family wishes to thank the NRMC paramedics, Dr. Hernandez, and ER staff for their efforts and compassion at this time. Lyn was an organ donor and gave the gift of life to help others who are in need. Her favorite charities were St. Jude and Shriner's.

A memorial service to honor Lyn's life will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
