Bonnie Lonkar

Bonnie Lonkar, affectionately known as "Nana," passed away on May 7, 2025, at the age of 79 at Heritage Manor Stratmore in Shreveport, Louisiana. Born on April 2, 1946, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, Bonnie was a beloved figure and held dear the relationships she formed throughout her life.

Bonnie dedicated many years of her career to the banking sector, initially working at Exchange Bank and concluding her professional journey at The Bank of Montgomery (BOM). She took great pride in her work and cherished the bonds she cultivated with both her coworkers and customers.

A graduate of Flora High School, Bonnie was a vibrant soul who pursued various interests throughout her life. Her love for dancing, sewing, and working in her yard reflected her engaging personality, while time spent on the river with family and friends exemplified her passion for connection and joy.

Bonnie is survived by her loving sisters, Edna Smith and husband Wayne, and Delbra Perkins and husband Bill. She was the proud mother of Richard A. Rachal and wife Shirley, Suzanne Moore, Deborah Bell, Connie Bell Touchstone, Penny Lonkar, and Amy Rahm. Additionally, she was a cherished "NaNa" to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever remember her warmth and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Niel Lonkar; her mother, Selezie LaCaze; father, Ashley LaCaze; sister, Orena Harrington; and brother, Ashley "Bud" LaCaze.

In gratitude, the family expresses special thanks to Life Path Hospice and the compassionate nurses and staff at Heritage Manor Stratmore Nursing Home for the exceptional care provided to Mrs. Bonnie.

Visitation will be held at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home, located at 848 Keyser Ave, Natchitoches, LA, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at the same location at 11:00 AM officiated by Don Frances. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Will Moore, Wesley Moore, Riley Moore, J.R. Rachal, Lucas Dowden and Cade Dowden

Bonnie Lonkar's legacy lives on in the hearts of those she loved and touched throughout her life. Her spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
