Bonnie Elaine Kay

Bonnie Elaine Kay passed away on August 1st, 2024 in peace at the Courtyard of Natchitoches. Born on October 13th, 1935 to Joseph Eli Kay and Thelma Turner Kay, she lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and cherished connections.

Bonnie was a beloved member of Harmony Baptist Church where she enjoyed fellowship with her church family. Her vibrant personality was reflected in her love for hunting and fishing, along with being an avid card player who enjoyed lively games with her dear friends. Over the years she held book-keeping positions with L.H. Johnson and Valley Farmers Co-Op.

She is survived by her loving family: son Louis Raiborn Briley, Jr. and his wife Bridget of Hagewood, LA; daughters Cynthia Kay Dunn of Harmony Community, LA and Kaycee Cook Powell and her husband Kevin of Provencal, LA; grandchildren Quentin Dunn, Ashley Briley Johnson and her husband Jason, Katie Dunn Carney and her husband Lonny, Luke Briley and his wife Desirae, Emily Powell Dahl and her husband Matthew, Erin Anderson and her husband Garrett, Hayden Powell and his wife Carlie; great-grandchildren Haley Carney, Landon Carney, Adalynn Carney, Briley Johnson, Macklin Johnson, Nolan Briley, Nora Briley, Allie Briley, Jack Briley, Aubree Dahl, and Eliza Dahl; brother Waymond Kay and a long-time son-in-law Leslie “Bubba” Dunn, Jr.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her longtime friend and companion Jerry Ronnie Cook; and her brothers, Lester Kay, Jerry Kay, and Ronnie Kay .

Bonnie's memory will forever be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A visitation will be held on Sunday August 4th at Harmony Baptist Church located at 350 Par Rd 721, Provencal, LA 71469 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. The burial will take place at Friendship Cemetery in Provencal. 

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Lonny Carney, Landon Carney, Luke Briley, Hayden Powell, Jason Wullschledger, Quentin Dunn, Garrett Anderson, and Matthew Dahl. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Kay, Brian Kay, Bubba Dunn, Kevin Powell, Kenneth Kay and Shelby Borders.

The family would like to thank Courtyard of Natchitoches and Hospice of Natchitoches for their loving care of Bonnie.
