Billy Gibson

December 25, 1950 — January 19, 2020

William A. Gibson III, lovingly known as “Billy”, was born December 25, 1950, in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He passed away suddenly, at the age of 69, on Sunday morning, January 19, 2020, at the camp on Hampton Lake, Natchitoches, LA “A man couldn’t ask for much better surroundings to close his windows for the last time.” Billy is survived by Elizabeth Welch, soulmate and partner of 17 years. His three children: daughter, Andrea Gibson and her two children, Brinley and Gannon of Shreveport, Louisiana,  Daughter, Leslie and her husband, Troy Tuminello, and their daughter, Brooke of Shreveport, LA, and Son, Rayne Gibson and his wife, Danielle Gibson of Forest Hill, LA; Brothers, Arty Gibson of Natchitoches, LA and Gary Gibson of Dallas, TX. He is preceded in death by his Grandparents, A.B. and Gertrude Simpson, and William A. and Marcelite Gibson; His parents, William A. Gibson II and wife, Hazel all from Natchitoches, Louisiana. Billy loved life! He was “all about” his family and friends, and employees. He loved them and they loved him back! It’s hard to fully describe the man Billy was. His passions describe him best… Cooking, watching LSU or “The Saints” football, building ECO Wholesale Nursery and watching it grow, building “anything BIG”, pouring concrete, riding Razors, riding motorcycles, camping, telling stories, pulling pranks, laughing, surprises, winning jackpots, playing golf once in a blue moon, big-screen TVs, couches with cup holders, powdered donuts and M&Ms, driving his tractor and mini-hoe, Freshly graded roads, sunsets on the river, “The Camp”, “The island”, hunting, playing cards, sitting around the fire, drinking with friends in “The Bar”, smoking and gathering with friends and family, birthday parties (his was December 25!), helping others, giving gifts, watching his kids grow, vacations, the Jamaican wedding, politics, “The Pond”, the wood ducks, and cranes, teasing, giving people a hard time-then, giving in! “The BFS”, the Forest Hill Community and everyone in it! Old friends, new friends, and friends gone too soon. Billy loved his life! He didn’t want a sad wake or a funeral service. He wanted us to have a party. We are calling it a “Celebration of Billy’s Life”, but he’d call it a party! Family and Friends, Please, come and celebrate with us! EVERYONE is invited to a Pig Roast on Saturday, February 1st at “The Camp” 1026 Hampton Road, Natchitoches, LA Noon – until? In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Ronald McDonald House in Billy's name: www.rmhc.org
