Billie Marie Norsworthy Maggio of Natchitoches, LA entered into eternal rest on July 23, 2026 at the age of 90.

Visitation will be Friday, July 31, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026 at Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and she will be laid to rest at Memory Lawn Cemetery.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Maggio, Sr. and her mother, Mary Breedlove Dison and adopted father, Alton Dison and her biological father, William (Bill) Norsworthy and sister, Jo Evelyn Dison Honeycutt.

She is survived by her brother Danny Dison and wife, Debbie of Benton, LA, and her children, Susan Maggio Ewing and husband, Surrey of Montgomery, TX, Rhonda Maggio of Montgomery, TX, John Maggio, Jr. of Natchitoches, and Phillip Maggio of Shreveport, LA. Grandchildren, Landon Ewing of Montgomery, TX, Lance Ewing and wife, Stephanie of Montgomery, TX, Laura Maggio DeLoach and husband, Josh of Dallas, TX, and Katie Maggio Lee and husband, Tim of Natchitoches and Great-Grandchildren, Kylie Ewing, Isla DeLoach and Grayson Lee and numerous nieces and nephews.

Billie was born in Natchitoches, LA. She attended and graduated from Natchitoches High School, laying the foundation for a life of dedication to family and service. On June 21, 1954, Billie married John Alphonse Maggio in a ceremony held at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church.

Billie began her career with the Natchitoches Chamber of Commerce before continuing as a secretary for Urbach Studios. During her time there, the studio was taking local photography during the filming of “The Horse Soldiers” which was filmed in part at Oakland Plantation. Billie got the unique opportunity to spend time on the film set, where she met legendary actors John Wayne and William Holden. She even had her picture taken with John Wayne, a treasured keepsake from an unforgettable experience and one she has always remembered with great pride in her career. She furthered her career by serving as a Title Clerk at the Natchitoches Tax Assessor’s Office. She later expanded her career at First Federal Savings and Loan as a Teller and eventually concluded her experience as a Legal Secretary. Finally, Billie decided to retire and devote her time and dedication to her family and raising four children.

Billie was a member of Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church. She was honored to be one of the Charter Members of the Les Amies Service Organization and was an active participant in the Catholic Daughters of America. She was an officer at the National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was also a dedicated member of Woodman Life Fraternal Organization.

Billie had lifelong love of fellowship and friendly competition. She was an enthusiastic bridge player, maintaining membership in a bridge club for many years and graciously hosted countless bridge parties in her home. She also enjoyed bowling and was a valued member of a bowling league for several years, creating lasting friendships through the sport she loved. Additionally, she appeared as an extra in the movie “Steel Magnolia’s”.

Billie took pride in maintaining an immaculate home. She found immense joy in reading, traveling, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Her warmth, love, and hospitality created lasting memories for all who knew her.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Landon Ewing, Lance Ewing, Tim Lee, Chris Dison, Chris Maggio, David Hadden. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Josh DeLoach, Sam Fulco, Richard Hadden, Jr, Don Dark, Jr., Jimmy Gunter and Rick Downey.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Billie’s granddaughter, Katie Maggio Lee for her unwavering love and support. Katie’s constant presence and devotion brought great comfort and strength during challenging times.

Special thanks are extended to Cady Weaver, whose dedicated care, assistance, and unwavering support over the past ten years have been invaluable. Cady graciously provided daily help in maintaining Billie’s home and was always there to offer reliable assistance whenever needed. The family is deeply grateful for her compassion, kindness and dedication. The family would also like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Billie’s devoted caregivers for their compassionate care and comfort they provided throughout her care.

Finally, the family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff at Natchitoches Community Health Care and Hospice of Natchitoches for their excellent care, compassion and support they provided.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church, Catholic Daughters of America’s or St. Mary’s Catholic School.
