Beverly Parker Harrell

September 1, 1949 — April 17, 2020

Her many talents came from the place our pain now emanates – the heart. Beverly Parker Harrell (70) was surrounded by family when God called her home on April 17, 2020. It is hard to summarize a life well lived by one who touched so many. At a young age, Beverly met her match, Hovey. Together they lived a true love story for 50 years all the while raising their three boys. Beverly graduated from Northwestern State University with dual master’s degrees in early childhood and special education. For 36 years, Beverly taught thousands of teachers who are now teaching their own students today. They will tell you she set the example for who they wanted to be in their own classrooms. Beverly expressed her loyal devotion to the Natchitoches community by serving as the president of many organizations including the Natchitoches Service League. Her Beta Sigma Phi sorority sisters say she was their “rock” who they always called for advice. You may have also picked up the phone to call Beverly for a recipe, or relied on her good taste. She was a faithful and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Natchitoches and enjoyed fellowship with her church family You may have found Beverly sewing, bragging on her grandchildren or offering a word of encouragement just when you needed it the most. A true renaissance woman who would not want to be remembered for her list of accolades, but beauty she wove into our lives.
