Betty Lou Gilcrease passed away on July 26, 2023 in Natchitoches.  She was born January 7, 1933 to Willie Henry Ainsworth and Ruby Dean Hicks in Coldwater, LA.  She was preceded by her parents; her husband of 61 years, James Gilcrease; her sisters, Joanne Scales and Janet Ainsworth; and a brother, Eugene Ainsworth.

Betty Lou worked for many years and retired from the Post Office at Northwestern State University.  She was a member of Campti Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School.  She truly had a heart of gold and would do anything to help someone in need.  Her home was always open to anyone and you were assured of being offered something to eat or at least a cup of coffee.  Past her relationship with her Savior, Jesus Christ, her family was her top priority.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed providing for her family.  She was deeply loved by her family and will be dearly missed, but we know we will be reunited with her one day in heaven.

She is survived by her children, Mickey Gilcrease and wife Peggy of Keithville, LA, Dano Gilcrease and wife Patsy of Bossier City, LA; Ronny Gilcrease and wife Teri of Orangefield, TX, Cindy Gilcrease Walker and husband Jeff of Denham Springs, LA; and Peyton Gilcrease and wife Patricia of Campti, LA.  She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
