Betty Jean Conant

Betty Jean Conant was called home to our Lord on April 13, 2025 after a brief illness. She was a devoted wife and loving mother of five. She spent the majority of her life caring for her family.

The family will receive visitation on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 911 5th St., Natchitoches, LA. Rosary and Funeral Mass immediately following. Interment at Memory Lawn Cemetery, Hwy 6, Natchitoches, LA.

Betty and Ralph moved to California in 1962. Betty was a devoted wife and loving mother of five. She spent the majority of her life caring for her family. Once her children were grown, she took a job briefly as a certified nursing assistant at a convalescent hospital in El Centro, CA. She enjoyed crocheting, working crossword puzzles, and watching her favorite daytime soaps. She was a quiet person but had a sharp wit. Sometimes her laughter was so intense it would turn to tears.

She and Ralph moved back to Natchitoches in 1992. Upon the death of her husband in 2011, Betty moved back to California to be near her children and lived with her daughter Jean.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ralph J. Conant, Sr., her sons Charles "Demonic" Conant and Mark R. Conant, her siblings Mary (Tit) Llorens, Frank Rachal, Jr., John (Nean) Rachal, James R. (Bing) Rachal, Harold J. Balthazar, and Beverly Balthazar Dodd. 

Betty is survived by her children Ralph J. Conant, Jr. (Esperanza), Jean M. Conant-Kramer (Scott), and Christopher K. Conant (Melissa), and siblings Alphonse Balthazar and Frankie Rachell. Betty is also survived by her grandchildren Monique Valencia (Val), Joseph L. Conant (Cece), Ericka Conant, Jessica Conant, Jonathan Conant, Ashley Conant, Stephanie Conant, Nathaniel Conant and great grandchildren Brooklyne, Zackary and Jayden.
