She will be laid to rest with her husband at Bethany Church Cemetery in Fairview Alpha. Barbara Lee McCrory, best known and loved by everyone as “Meme” went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 14th, 2023. She left this world peacefully with her family by her side, sharing memories of the beautiful life she created for them. She was born on November 19th, 1942, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania to Donald Charles Alexander and Gladys Marie Alexander. She was one of five children. At the age of three, her father was stationed in Fort Sam Houston, Texas with the Army Calvary where she lived the remainder of her childhood. In 1961 she married the love of her life and best friend, John B. McCrory Sr. Together they shared 49 years and raised four beautiful, strong-willed children. She was a devote Christian woman who turned to God for every moment life gave her. Barbara described her life as “BLESSED” because she felt the family God gave her to raise was a gift, despite the moments they wouldn’t “act right”. She never lost patience, always showed loved, and never gave up on anyone. There was never a time in her life when she was not taking care of someone or something. She always lent a helping hand to those in need, a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, or even to give advice we needed but didn’t want to hear. Barbara lived a life of servitude. She took care of her mother, who suffered from Pollio, for over 35 years. She also helped raise all her grandbabies from the day they were born and was still teaching them about life and strength when she took her final breath. Her last bit of advice to remember is that tomorrow is never promised, don’t wait until its too late to tell someone how much you love them and how much you care. Hold your loved ones close, and enjoy the little moments too, not just the extravagant ones. She is preceded in death by her parents: Donald and Gladys Alexander, siblings: Betty “Toot” Bennett, Nancy Wilson, Charles “Chuck” Alexander, Donald “Donnie” Alexander, and her husband, John B. McCrory Sr. She is survived by her children: Sharon Robertson and husband Richard, John B. McCrory Jr. and wife Tammy, Stephanie Busby and husband Jarrett, and Debbie McCrory. Grandchildren: Will Thomas, Britney Tingle and husband Ryan, John B. McCrory III “Trey” and wife Bria, Brandon Nation and wife Summer, Cheyenne Martin and husband Justin, Austin Busby and wife Meagan, Brennan Busby, and Ethan Busby. Great grandchildren: Makena Thomas, Rylan and Avery Tingle, Madelynn, Natalie, Olivia, and Phoebe Nation, and Hudson Busby. We can’t forget her Great grand fur puppy, Maci Louise Martin, who was the only furry creature Meme allowed to sit and share her chair. As well as numerous amounts of extended family and friends who loved her dearly. Her love will always be where her family is. In our hearts and in our homes forever until we meet again. The family would like to extend special thanks to the team of nurses and doctors at NRMC and the LTAC who have provided care for her over the last several months. As well as the CNAs and nurses at The Courtyard of Natchitoches. In lieu of flowers the family asks to please donate to St. Jude`s Childrens Research Hospital. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Will Thomas, Brandon Nation, Austin Busby, Brennan Busby, Ethan Busby, and Justin Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Robertson, Jarrett Busby, Ryan Tingle, and John McCrory III. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Michelle Mayeux, the team of nurses and doctors at NRMC, who provided care for her over the last several months.
