A burial ceremony to celebrate the life of Avis Aline Borders Fletcher will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, September 12, 2020, at St. Maurice Cemetery with Bro. Ron Thompson officiating. Avis, age 83 and a resident of Natchitoches went to be with the Lord Friday morning, September 11, 2020, after a courageous battle. She was born on June 15, 1937, to Polite and Hulia Pardee in Natchitoches. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Hulia Rose, her first husband, Shelby Borders, precious daughter in law, Lisa Borders, and grand pups Lazarus and Lexie. Avis was a blessing to those who knew and loved her. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed art, making dolls for loved ones, telling childhood stories to family, and loved being with her family. She really loved playing cards, especially UNO. She was no stranger to the dance floor and was willing to “shake it” any chance she got. Her greatest accomplishment and joy in life was being “Maw-Maw”. Her great-grandchildren were her absolute world. She is survived by her loving husband, Ray Fletcher of Natchitoches; children Shelby Borders (wife Lisa) of Natchitoches, Rebekah Borders of Natchitoches, James Borders of Natchitoches, Robert Fletcher (wife Susan)of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren Lindsey Broadway, Brittany Borders, and Tyler Borders; great-grandchildren Gracie Borders, Kyle Fletcher, Hunter Broadway, Ava Broadway, Izabella Lopez, Chloe’ Borders, Raeleigh Borders; two great nephews whom she loved like grandchildren, Kaleb Chesser and Jared Chesser, and her grand pup Cracker Jack. Those honored to serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are Shelby Borders, James Borders, Tyler Borders, John Lewis, Hunter Broadway, Jimmy Fletcher, Brian Fletcher, Donald Mitchell, Rhett Fitzgerald, Gabe Richmond, Joe Columbia, Barry Galloway, Johnny Ashlock, Romulus Roquemore, Kaleb Chesser, Jared Chesser.
