Anita Janene Hamous, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, peacefully departed this life on February 24, 2026, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, surrounded by the people she cherished most. Born on October 26, 1961, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Anita embraced life with an open heart and vivacious spirit, leaving an indelible impact on all who knew her.
Janene was not only a devoted family member but also a true animal lover, finding companionship in her cherished fur baby, Heidi. Throughout her life, she nurtured strong bonds with her family, continuously offering love and support. She is survived by her brothers, A J O'Con of Stonewall, Louisiana, and Gordon O'Con of Robeline, Louisiana; and by her sister, Judy Lee, and husband Luther of Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Janene's legacy extends to her nieces and nephews, who she cared for deeply and regarded as her own. To Michelle, Brooke, Monda, Missy, Angie, Casey, Marion, Tina, Rodney Reese, Ryan, Tony, Ricky, Kevin, Wayne, Tommy, Eric, Keith, and Seth, Anita was not just an aunt, but a guiding light and source of unconditional love.
Sadly, Janene is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Nellie Faye O'Con; her sister, Wanda; and her brothers, Michael, Kenneth, and Tommy. Their memories serve as a gentle reminder of a rich life filled with love, laughter, and shared moments that continue to warm the hearts of those left behind.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Janene's life at Hickory Grove Congregational Methodist Church in Robeline, Louisiana. Visitation will be held on Friday February 27, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on Saturday February 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM, with Doug Freeman and Ryan McNeely officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Robeline, LA. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Kevin O'Con, Darrein O'Con, Marvin Davis, Josh O'Con and Luther Lee.
Janene Hamous will forever be remembered for her compassionate nature, her laughter, and her unwavering love for family and friends. We will hold onto the cherished memories, knowing that her spirit will always be with us, guiding and inspiring us in our lives.
