Amy Lou Cox

Natchitoches

Funeral services for Amy Cox will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, with Rev. John Karle officiating.  Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery, Natchitoches, LA.   The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, May 3 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Steve Couvillion, Jr., Steven Morrison, Stephen Burkhalter, Ethan Burkhalter, Roy Lee, Mickey Dove, Jeff Townsend, Jeff Franks, Stan Williams, and Scott Burlingame.

Amy Lou Burkhalter Cox, 68 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away on April 30, 2024, after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.  She was born on January 23, 1956, to Alton Burkhalter and Joyce Norrgard Burkhalter in Alexandria, LA.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Louis David Cox. 

She is survived by her daughters, Ginger Couvillion and husband Steve, of Gulf Breeze, FL and Holly Morrison and husband Steven, of Natchitoches; brothers, Alton Burkhalter and wife Erika, of California and Craig Burkhalter and wife Rita, of Natchitoches.   She was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Gwen Couvillion, Bella Couvillion, Rosie Couvillion, Abbie Couvillion, Kimberly Morrison, and Christopher Morrison.

Amy attended and graduated from Natchitoches Central High School and then later from NSU.  She worked many years as the secretary to the Chief of Police at the Natchitoches Police Department.  She truly loved and respected all of her co-workers at the department.  Deeply rooted in faith, she enjoyed attending and was a lifetime member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed reading, cooking, and feeding her hummingbirds.  Amy was a positive person and went out of her way to encourage and   help others.  She had such a generous spirit and loved Jesus aove all. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her great joy.   She will be dearly missed but always remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
