Funeral service for Mr. Allen J. Solomon will be at 10 am on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches. Burial will follow at Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Friday the 28th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include his Grandsons William A. Kyzar, Robert A. Willett, Paul S. Solomon, David J. Solomon, Steven M. Solomon, Justin L. Solomon, and Jason A. Solomon. Honorary pallbearers will be Nolan Jones, Troy Vascocu, Robert Willett, and Gary Vascocu. Allen, 94 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches passed away August 24, 2020. He was born on August 7, 1926, to Joe Allen Solomon and Louise Wilkerson Solomon in Natchitoches, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Melton Forrest McFarland and 2 sisters Louise Solomon Parker and Hazel Solomon Mayher. Allen proudly served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II serving in the Asiatic-Pacific theater, where he received a Purple Heart for being wounded in combat. From an early age he always knew he wanted to be in the cattle business and has always found joy in maintaining a herd. He also worked at W H Hodges In Alexandria , LA for many years. He was a hard worker but always liked to relax by attending dances whenever and wherever the opportunity would arise. His greatest joy on earth was his family. He was a good provider and seeing that his family’s needs were met was his top priority. He gave back to his community by being a member of the Natchitoches Sheriff’s Posse. Allen definitely enjoyed and lived his life to the fullest and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Solomon McFarland of Natchitoches and Betty Solomon Willett and husband Robert of Dry Prong; sons Thomas Allen Solomon and wife Laura, David Marks Solomon and wife Marianne, Richard Daniel McFarland, and Allen Joe Solomon and wife Terri all of Natchitoches. He was blessed with 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Family would like to thank Evelyn Pikes, Twan McDonald, and Hospice of Natchitoches for their devoted service over the past year.
